Truth Explained

What the Bible says
About God

(Prepared by Aaron Kember)

He is the only true God.

"And this is life eternal, that they may know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."
(John 17:3)

He created everything.

"God that made the world and all things in it, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;"
(Acts 17:24)

He does not live in man made dwelling places.

"God that made the world and all things in it, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;"
(Acts 17:24)

He is light.

"This then is the message which we have heard from him, and declare to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all."
(1 John 1:5)

He cannot lie.

"That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:"
(Hebrews 6:18)

He sees the wisdom of this world as foolishness.

"Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?"
(1 Corinthians 1:20)

He is able to justify. (i.e., clear a person of guilt)

"Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth."
(Romans 8:33)

He will judge the world in righteousness.

"Because he hath appointed a day, in which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; of which he hath given assurance to all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead."
(Acts 17:31)

He commands all mankind to repent.

"And the times of this ignorance God overlooked; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:"
(Acts 17:30)

He is no respector of persons. (i.e., He is impartial)

"Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, In truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:"
(Acts 10:34)

He does not want us to perish.

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
(2 Peter 3:9)

He is rich in mercy.

"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us,"
(Ephesians 2:4)

He cares.

"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
(1 Peter 5:7)

He is love.

"And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him."
(1 John 4:16)

He has shown his love by sending His Son.

"In this was revealed the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him."
(1 John 4:9)

He has spoken to us through His Son.

"Hath in these last days spoken to us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;"
(Hebrews 1:2)

"But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Romans 5:8
