Home Calls

Hatboro, PA - Emery V. Richards, age 97, on May 9, went to be with the Lord from the Longport Home. Our dear brother was saved in 1918 through the truth of John 3:16. A highly esteemed and beloved elder in the Hatboro assembly for many years, he was part of the group that met first as an assembly in that town. Gracious, patient, and hospitable, he and his wife Florence often entertained missionaries and preachers visiting in the area. He was frequently engaged in gospel work in the local area. Will Coleman, Robert Rea, Bill Oliver, and Eugene Higgins shared in the funeral.

Glen Ewen, SK - Betty MacFarlane, age 58, on May 10. Our dear sister was saved in 1950, and was a quiet, consistent, and godly woman. She was a true helpmeet for her husband of nearly 40 years, as they together cared for the assembly and the Lord’s people. Their home was open to the Lord’s servants as well as all His people. She was a lover of hospitality and will be missed. Besides her husband, Don, Betty leaves two sons and a daughter with their spouses, three grandchildren, four sisters, and a brother. The funeral service was shared by Larry Steers and Bruce Smith.
