The Perfect Servant

Selected

In the gospel of Mark, we see God’s Perfect Servant. He is surrounded by imperfect disciples and yet in tenderness and love, He is patiently working to draw them to Himself that they might be more like him. The goal towards which He is beginning to guide us is absolute perfection. The Lord is working to make us as much like Himself. The job will not be completed in this life; but he means to get us as far as possible before death. Difficulties in life may be God forcing us on to a higher level and are never designed to bring us down; only closer to Him.

The love of God for His Son is infinitely immeasurable. That love was displayed in all its fullness at Calvary. So great is that love for the Son that He is working in us to "bring many sons unto glory." He desires to mold us and make us like His dear Son and then to "present us faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy" (Jude 1:24).

Have thine own way Lord, have thine own way.
Hold o’er my being, absolute sway.
Mold me and make me after Thy will.
While I am waiting, yielded and still.
