HOME CALLS

Bryn Mawr, PA - Jeffrey Wenke, age 16, on January 5, went home to heaven suddenly in an accident while riding home from school. Jeff was saved at about 10 years of age. He often had serious thoughts about eternal matters and assured his family, "I know I am saved." With his sense of humor, gentle and warm manner, and consistent interest in spiritual matters, he endeared himself to the believers. More than 500 heard the gospel at his funeral. Several unbelieving friends and relatives were impressed and one family member has since professed faith in Christ. Pray that the Lord will work further and also comfort his mother father, and two younger sisters, a close-knit family who are grief-stricken.

Jackson, MI - Mrs. Alice Decker, age 90, on January 16. Our beloved sister was saved as a girl, through John 3:16. She was in happy fellowship since 1925, first in Deckerville and then in Jackson. Her husband preceded her to heaven in 1983. Many of the Lord’s servants have memories of her kindness and love, as she opened her home to them during gospel meetings. Her family is all saved and was a joy to her. The funeral service was shared by William Metcalf, Jim Smith, Gary Sharp, and James Beattie.

Kilmore, Co. Tyrone, N. Ireland - Thomas Henry (Harry) Scott, age 89, departed peacefully on February 4. He was saved in 1937 and later received into fellowship in Kilmore, where he served as correspondent for many years. Our brother had a spiritual influence on Tom Matthews (Brazil) during secular employment and taught John McCann Jr., (Brazil) in Sunday School. As a man of godly character he will be greatly missed for his faithfulness and spiritual exercise in the assembly. He is survived by his wife, Anna, a true help meet. Albert McShane and W. J. Nesbitt shared the funeral services.

Lake Shore, ON - Carl C. Metcalf, age 85, on Feb. 20. Our brother was saved in 1934 in gospel meetings that brethren McBain and Klabunda held in the old Glen Rae Gospel Hall, located on his parent’s farm. Shortly afterward he was received into the fellowship of the assembly, which later moved to Oil Springs. Since 1976 he and his wife Helen have been in happy fellowship in the Lake Shore Assembly. In 1983 he suffered a severe stroke that paralyzed him. His testimony of joy and peace spoke loudly in the nursing home where his wife cared lovingly for him every day. He is survived by his wife, four sons, one daughter, 18 grandchildren, all saved, 14 great grandchildren, and a brother. His eldest son William, is in the Lord’s work. Norman Crawford, William Metcalf and James Beattie shared the service at the large funeral.

Livingston, NJ - Frank DeMarino, on February 25. Frank was a faithful brother who was in assembly fellowship for more than 40 years. He had many medical problems over the last few years, yet was at the meetings whenever possible. Frank was a constant help to the saints in East Orange and then in Livingston and will be missed by all. The funeral services were well attended with many unsaved family members brought again under the word of the gospel. Frank Tornaquindici, Allan Valvano, and Cyril Binns shared the services.
